AstridxHiccup Drabble

"Before you go for real I need you to help me with something."
It was a chilly summer morning on the island of Berk, the red hair of Gryphon floating about in the breezes. The actual gryphon Eustice stood proud next to her, preparing to leave with his new family. He hummed and looked to her with his pupil-less eyes. "What do you need?"
"You see those two?" She pointed down to Hiccup and Astrid. The scrawny Viking teen was trying to get her attention but she was purposely ignoring him trying to pet the baby Nadders. "Lately all those two have been doing is fighting."
"Well Hiccup and I are well acquainted." He smirked and gave a scratch before opening his great golden wings. "Leave it up to my Gryphon. But you have to bring Astrid to the cliffs before the sun sets okay?"
Her blue eyes sparkled and she gave a thinking expression. "Yeah sure thing." She told, giving him a gentle hug before he flew off into the skies. Gryphon spat on her hands and adjusted herself properly. Astrid was still annoyed and so thought that the redhead was her persistent lover. As soon as word of, "hey." Came from her mouth, Astrid turned to punch. Luckily the other girl was wearing her helmet. The blonde hissed as her knuckles turned red, biting them as she caught glimpse of her friend. "Oh hey Griff." She told, attempting to be casual under the amount of unusual pain. "what's up?"
"Not sure." She told, obviously lying. "Hey what's been going on between you and Hiccup?"
"Don't get me started." She told rolling her eyes and helping her friend adjust the helmet correctly. Every now and again the horn would become loose and fall over a bit. The two fixed it but Gryphon urged, "Can you tell me?"
"Well he hasn't been pulling his weight lately." She mumbled and clenched her fists, "I hate to feel like I'm being a bully but I don't want to fight with him either." She sighed and stared to Gryphon, "I wish we were more like you and Snotlout."
Gryphon chuckled at this and placed a small hand onto her shoulder, "Astrid, haven't you been around us for a long period of time? Snotlout and I, all we do is fight! Ferocious usually has to break us up."
"She's a good dragon nanny isn't she?" She asked back, the two chuckling as they started to put away the buckets and shields.  They held a few conversations as they finished cleaning up from the training session.
"You didn't have to help me you know." Astrid told as they relaxed, leaning on the body of the red-head's great Monsterous Nightmare, Ferocious. Gryphon lied back a bit and stared into the clouds, "yeah, Ferocious was too tired from yesterday. Man Gobbler ran us rugged!"
"Sure did." She told, sipping a bit of stale water that she spat out again. "Yuk! But if you had Snotlout or even the other guys to hang out with, why me?"
"well, you're a pretty good friend." Gryphon adjusted her glasses and lightly tapped her with a fist, "You're awesome."
"You think?" She asked giving her a smile. "Yeah. Hey but could you do me a favor now?"
"What's that?"
"There's something down by the cliffs. I need you to distract it using your hair, but it has to be untied." She snickered to herself, knowing that Hiccup melted at the sight of Astrid with her hair down. The tough blonde agreed but was still confused, hoping that she could help in any way possible.
The two snuck down into the forests with Ferocious leading the way to free their path of nasty foliage. A little golden feather told Gryphon that Eustice had brought Hiccup this way and was awaiting the two. Astrid followed behind the dragon persistently, feeling the need to beat something up. She stopped and paused, the light catching her hair as she spotted her stick-like boyfriend. Hiccup himself gulped, his eyes wide as he stared at her. "Astrid?" he asked in a gentle voice, Gryphon seeing Eustice sneaking away in the background. He stepped up to her and wrapped his arms around her waist. She was stiff for a few brief moments but her body melted upon feeling his nose come near hers. Hiccup awed at her eyes and told in his gentlest voice, "Have I ever told you how pretty you are?"
"yeah and have I ever told you how much of an idiot you are?"
Hiccup appeared a bit distraught from this, his confidence beginning to fail. But she rose up his chin and blinked slowly. "But it's because of that reason that I love you so much." The two smiled warmly at one another, not caring if they were in the presence of three others. They mashed their lips together softly, gripping one another's back. Gryphon had to grin at this, her heart beating a bit nervously. She felt unwanted and soon got the message. Those two weren't going to let up any time soon. Ferocious gave a low rumbling snicker and pointed her head outside. Soon the red head left their company, leaving them alone to talk briefly.
"So how come you've not been pulling your weight lately?"
"I haven't?" He asked as if it wasn't obvious. Astrid rolled her eyes but her breath caught as Hiccup began to pull something from his pocket. It was a long chain of pearls. He smirked, "I was scaling the beach with Toothless. He loves limpets and they have pearls inside them sometimes but…" He put the chain around her neck and smiled, "I think they look a lot nicer on you."
Astrid was near tears. She had never been given something like this. He really did care, and now she felt terrible for being upset at him. She quickly apologized in tear-ridden hug and kissed him over and over. Once more things were back to normal.
